Overview
Mount Fuji is with 3776 meters Japan's highest mountain. It is Japan iconic symbol and an active volcano which most recently erupted in 1707 which stands on the border between Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on good weather days.
Hence, we will guide you through our recommended spots to have the best views of Mt Fuji.
It is possible to take a day trip from Tokyo to the area around Mt. Fuji, we recommend a two-day course where you can spend a relaxing time emerging in onsen while viewing the majestic Mt Fuji.
Mt Fuji is most beautifully viewed on clear and non-cloudy days.

Lake Kawaguchiko
Lake Kawaguchi is located in the border of the towns of Fujikawaguchiko and Minobu in southern Yamanashi Prefecture near Mount Fuji, Japan. It is the second largest of the Fuji Five Lakes in terms of surface area, and is located at the lowest elevation. The breathtaking views can be seen especially during Sakura or Autumn on clear days.

Fujiyoshida Sengen Shrine stands in a dense forest and is set off from the road by a long approach lined by stone lanterns and shaded by tall cedar trees. The shrine's red painted buildings include a main hall dating from 1615, a dancing stage and a few auxiliary buildings.

Oshino Hakkai is a touristy set of eight ponds in Oshino, a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region, located between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako on the site of a former sixth lake that dried out several hundred years ago.

Hakone Ropeway
The Hakone Ropeway is part of the Hakone Round Course, a popular way to visit Hakone. It connects Sounzan Station Cabecar with Togendai Station (at the shore of Lake Ashinoko) and stops at Owakudani and Ubako stations on the way. Owakudani is an active sulphurous volcano zone created during the last eruption of Mt Hakone some 3000 years ago.

A path leads from the torii gate in Lake Ashi up a series of steps flanked by lanterns through the forest to the main building of the shrine, which sits peacefully among the tall trees. The shrine is beautiful throughout the year, and is particularly breathtaking when shrouded in mist.
